Getting contact lenses for astigmatism can be a lot more expensive than just regular contact lenses for basic eye correction. The reason why these contact lenses cost more than just regular contacts is because there is a lot more involved in the correction.
If you have astigmatism that basically means your eye is slightly oblong. The eye should be a perfect sphere and when its not, you have astigmatism. Contact lenses for astigmatism correct this and allow you to have the same vision that a normal spherical eye would have.
Additionally, if you have contact lenses for astigmatism there is probably also a correction for near sight or far sight. Sometimes eyes only have a very minor amount of astigmatism and this can be corrected with regular contact lenses. Your tear film will fill the void between your eye and the contact lens.
If you are noticing that your vision isn’t as clear as it should be, you should set up an appointment with your local eye doctor. It is recommended that you visit the eye doctor once per year. If you do need a vision correction and don’t want to wear eyeglasses, you can ask your eye doctor about wearing contact lenses.
