As far as what to look for when purchasing eyeglasses, really the main thing is making sure that you choose a pair of glasses that are right for your needs rather that what someone else feels is good for you. Based off what you have told me I am unsure if you need eyeglasses for distance (i.e. driving) or if you need eyeglasses for up close (i.e. computer). If you need eyeglasses for computer use, I would recommend getting an anti-reflective coating. Actually, it's good to have that for all eyeglasses. However, one thing with that is the anti-reflective coating scratches very very easily.
